Career

DB Cargo Eurasia GmbH (DBCE) was founded in 2008, which is the specialist for Eurasian container traffic by rail within the DB group. In order to be closer to the Chinese market, DB Cargo Eurasia has established a wholly owned company in China in 2021 -- DB Cargo Transasia (DBCT), headquartered in Shanghai, China, with an office in Xi'an.

DBCE forms the network of DB Cargo structures on the eastern EU-border and fills the rail traffic within DB network with volume to and from Asia, this involves more than 1,200 trains a year. Now, in contrast to time-consuming sea transport and expensive air transport, rail transport across Eurasia up to China can provide an efficient and competitive solution for commercial trade between China and Europe. Transports on the Eurasian Corridor are twice as fast as a container ship and cost a fraction of comparable air freight. And a freight train emits 13 times less nitrogen oxides than a container ship.

Rail Freight Transport Makes Sense

Despite the numerous advantages of freight transport, only around five percent of all freight transport to and from China is currently carried by rail.

Since 2008, DB Cargo has been working with its subsidiary DB Cargo Eurasia on the Eurasian Corridor to change this and shift the flow of goods between China and Europe to rail. DB Cargo Eurasia links the Eurasian Corridor to DB Cargo's largest European rail freight network - with 18 countries in Europe and more than 4,000 connection points, it ensures improved utilization of DB Cargo's rail network in Europe with transports to and from Asia.
